I am Poppy chesty and I’ve been dancing with BCD for 5 years, 4 of which have been so as an instructor. I am a level 2 instructor with BCD, with additional training in Flex it, Burn Club, Strip, Feather fans and can offer a range of different masterclasses.

I know exactly how it feels walking into your first class and feeling anxious about it, but trust me, I have never looked back and I am sure there are many more who feel the same !

​

For me Burlesque chair dance allows me to strip away titles such as mum, wife, beauty therapist and just do something that’s entirely just for me. I become my alter ego, Poppy chesty who is confident, sexy and naughty. She is the person who I seemed to have lost a long time ago.  

​

Becoming an instructor myself has allowed me to open up a safe space to allow others to build confidence and to feel a sense of empowerment.

Classes can also help to promote body image and how you see yourself in a positive way.  They give you the confidence to do more than you ever thought you would! With the added bonus of it being a fitness class!

I love more than anything, seeing everyone walking out of classes with a big smile on their faces, seeing the look of triumph when they achieve a trick or that sparkle on their eyes when they perform for the very first time. It fills me with so much joy and pride!

I have been lucky enough to perform in a couple of big shows both within a group or as a solo act and even luckier to have actually produced a couple of shows too, some of which were for charity. I’m glad to say that over the last few years my burlesque troupe and I have helped to raise over £12,000 for various different charities.

​

I was crowned World Burlesque day Queen 2023 which is one of my favourite achievements as it was all down to the lovely kind words of all my troupes.

​

My girls and guy aren’t just my dancers they are my burlesque family. And every single one of them deserves to shine and sparkle!
